Industrial Disaster and Popular Memory in the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park
LOST FOR WORDS is an exhibition of oral history and memorabilia that has been compiled throughout the ‘Sea Empress’ Project.
The project, which will be exhibited at the Reading Room and then held at the National Library of Wales, gathers together the voices of local people remembering the 1996 catastrophe, their reactions to it and their role in the aftermath.
The archive is part of a community project overseen by artist and film-maker Abigail Sidebotham aimed not just at remembering the Sea Empress disaster but exploring people’s connection to environment, their attachment to landscape, flora and fauna, the role it plays in the formation of identity and the consequent impacts of ecological disaster.
